Jeb Bush Endorses Marco Rubio for Florida Senate

From AP :

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is endorsing Marco Rubio's campaign for U.S. Senate.

Bush, still popular and influential with Florida Republicans, has long been rumored to be a Rubio backer, but his endorsement comes less than a week after Gov. Charlie crist decided to run as an independent rather than face Rubio in the GOP primary.
Bush says Rubio is a passionate, principled leader who wouldn't change his views when political winds shift.
The Rubio campaign released the following soon after the announcement:

Miami, FL – Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush today endorsed Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate. The two will campaign together for the first time this Friday night at the Pasco County Reagan Day Dinner.

“Washington is broken, and Marco Rubio is the only candidate in this race that I trust to help fix it,” said Bush. “He is a bright, passionate and principled leader who approaches public service with a servant’s heart and a reformer’s detail for policy. Reforming Washington will not be easy and will require leaders who stay true to their principles even when the odds are stacked against them. The last thing the Senate needs is another politician who has to take a poll to make a decision.

George P Bush Endorses Marco Rubio for US Senate

George P Bush, son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, endorses Marco Rubio for US senate in the 2010 Senate race in Florida.

Miami, FL – U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio today announced he has earned the endorsement of George P. Bush.

Making today’s announcement, Bush said, “I’ve known Marco Rubio for years and saw what he could do during the six years he spent working alongside my father promoting ideas and reform-based conservatism. He is a rock-solid conservative and the leader Floridians deserve in the U.S. Senate to advocate for limited government and greater personal freedoms. Marco’s deeply rooted principles and can-do spirit will make him a powerful voice on behalf of those who want to hold Washington accountable for its excesses while offering bold solutions to our nation’s challenges.”

Today’s announcement comes in advance of a Rubio for Senate campaign fundraiser being held tonight in Coral Gables, FL. The event is co-hosted by George P. Bush, as well as his brother, Jeb Bush, Jr., who endorsed Rubio in May 2009.

In welcoming Bush’s endorsement, Rubio said, “George P. Bush is a rising star who is carrying on his family’s great tradition of defending and promoting the Republican ideals we hold dear. As a businessman, family man and public servant, George P. Bush understands firsthand what our state and nation have at stake in the coming election. I am proud to have his support as we work to get America back on a limited government track.”

George Will: Rubio WILL Win 2010 Fl Senate Primary

On "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos, conservative writer and commentator George Will said of Florida's conservative senatorial candidate  Marco Rubio, "ABSOLUTELY, HE WILL WIN GOINGAWAY."

He also said that Independents are moving to the right in droves.

This follows a story written by Rubio for the National Review in regard to the NY23 race. It's easy  to understand that Rubio gets it and that he has continued to stick to his message of "conservative principles". It seems to be working.

Here is what Rubio wrote:

Today's developments in New York's 23rd Congressional District should send an encouraging message to conservatives everywhere. It is not only right and necessary to stand up for our principles, it is also an appealing strategy to Americans yearning for less government and more fiscal restraint in Washington.

While there are still four grueling days of work left, it is clear candidates willing to stand up for conservative beliefs will not face a lonely journey on the campaign trail.

For conservatives who still don't believe we can be true to our principles and win elections, I hope NY-23 serves as a wake-up call. It's time for them to join their fellow Republicans on the front lines to deliver a victory on Tuesday.

Florida Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite Endorses Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate

Miami, FL – As he campaigns in Florida’s Fifth Congressional District today, U.S. Senate candidate and former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio announced that he has received the endorsement of Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite (FL-05).

Making today’s announcement, Congresswoman Brown-Waite said, “Originally, I had not planned to endorse in this race, but as the challenges facing our nation and Florida grow more severe, times demand someone willing to make hard choices. Washington needs leaders with solid conservative beliefs and the courage to do the right thing. Marco Rubio does not try to be all things to all people. Like me, what you see is what you get. Marco Rubio is the consistent, principled conservative we need to provide a check and balance on the Obama-Reid agenda.”

“In the Senate, Marco will stand up for Florida’s taxpayers, not with President Obama and dangerous big government spending,” she added. “Marco will oppose Medicare changes proposed by the Obama Administration that will hurt our seniors. Marco is a principled leader who will answer the call and won’t pass the buck. You can count on Marco Rubio to walk the talk.”

Welcoming Brown-Waite’s endorsement, Rubio commented, “I’m honored to have Congresswoman Brown-Waite’s support. She has proven time and time again that Republicans are the party of ideas and common sense solutions, while showing an especially remarkable ability to put these traits to work on behalf of Florida’s taxpayers, seniors and veterans. I look forward to joining her in Washington and working together to get our country back on track.”
